Should I wait or get the iPod touch now?

I've been putting off getting the iPod touch but I now finally have a chance do get one. I received a great midterm report and my father has offered to buy me one but the problem is that there are rumours a new generation is coming out in a month or even less. Should I wait? I have theory (AMEB Music) exam next week which I think I'm gonna fail which would jeopardize my chance of getting a new iPod. What should I do? Please help. This is very important to me.
