Potty training and bed wetting?

OK, pls bare in mind this is my first potty training and i may sound dumb, but how else will i learn. My son has been potty training for 2 months. Going great (pee pee) in his potty during wake hrs. give or take a few accidents....no poo poo yet. We are prepared for wet sheets and so on. Doc states its best to cut diapers completely even at bed so they learn to not like being wet, so we cut liquids about 2 hrs before bed in hopes to avoid a full bladder. My question is this: how long did it take your child to not wet the bed? I have tried waking him in the middle of the night when i get up with our 7 month old, so he can pee pee but he just won't (too tired i guess). So will this eventually p as he gains more control and just out of curiousity about how long did your child wet the bed while potty training before they got the hang of it? thanks for any suggestions and advice.
