Is there certain living room furniture that is more kid friendly than others, we R going shopping this weekend?

Yes, brown and leather like you said are good. Also brown or black microsuede, which is softer than leather and easier to clean than other fabric. My FAVORITE piece of furniture is a huge brown leather ottoman. We use it as a footrest, a seat, a coffee table. And best of all, my kids learn to "cruise" ( pre-walking) around it. It's great because they cant hurt their heads on it like a coffee table and if you it up against the couch they can;t fall off the end of the couch. Also, if you are getting chairs and don't already have one you might want one that glides. Otherwise I like the chair and a halfs which are halfway between a loveseat and an arm chair and can fit you and at least one kid in it comfortably. As for the couch, We have a sectional with a chais at one end and a big triangle thing at the other. Plenty of room for mom and dad at either end with all the kids in between. Hope this helped =-)
